Today is the big day of my university friend, Eric Leung. It is my honour to be invited as the MC of his wedding banquet and also one of his groomsmen.
Although I acted as groomsman for several closed friends in the recent 10 years, it is my first time to be the MC of wedding banquet and I feel very nervous about it. To well prepare for this role, a short meeting with the bride, the female MC, together with him and me was arranged so that both MCs could get a general understanding what they would want, how many language(s) do we need to speak, who the guests are, when the event starts, etc. A script was developed 3 weeks before the event so that they can review and modify. A separate conference call was arranged one week before the event to go through the script and have the final touch.
Yup, I feel like having a official presentation to my clients. Oops! Let me rephrase it. I didn't prepare that seriously for my client presentation. Anyway, it's my friend's one-in-a-life-time event and I could not afford to ruin it.
After rehearse at least five times before the event with the other MC, I still felt the nervousness 10 minutes before it started. I hope my performance is fine to the newly married couple. I wish them tones of love and happiness. I am glad to be part of their special day :)
